1. Computer Systems Analyst
Hiring for Computer Systems Analysts maintained a high level of demand throughout 2012. The highest volume of job ads was during March 2012, with more than 114,000 job ads. Overall hiring demand in 2012 was 8% higher than in 2011. Washington, DC and New York, NY have both the most demand and the largest candidate pools for Computer Systems Analysts. It's not surprising that Recruiters are likely to encounter difficult recruiting conditions on average, being an in-demand IT occupation. This position scores a 78 on our Hiring Scale (99 denotes hardest-to-fill). Both Washington, DC (79) and New York (77) score about the same as the national average. The most difficulty for recruiting Computer Systems Analysts is likely to occur in Niles-Benton Harbor, MI, which scores a 94. Recruiters may be able to find easier conditions in Clarksville, TN, which scores a 10, or Scranton, PA, scoring a 12.

There were just over 20,000 job ads listed online for Database Administrators in December 2012. Hiring demand experienced a slight .7% year-over-year increase compared to December 2011. On average, Recruiters are likely to experience a fairly difficult recruiting environment, scoring an 81. Lexington, KY currently averages the best recruiting conditions scoring a 25. In contrast, Manchester, NH presents the most difficult recruiting conditions, scoring a 94.

Software Developer falls under 2 SOCs, so we looked at hiring trends for Computer Software Engineer, Systems Software and Computer Software Engineer, Applications. During December, there were over 91,000 job ads posted online, representing an 18% increase over the same time last year. Recruiters are likely to experience challenging recruiting conditions for this occupation, on average. El Paso, TX has the best hiring conditions, scoring a 5. Adversely, Recruiters in Bloomington-Normal, IL are likely to encounter the most difficult recruiting environment, scoring a 94.

4. Web Developer
Hiring demand for Web Developers reached its highest point in demand during May with more than 106,000 job ads. The overall volume of job ads posted in 2012 was 12% higher than was posted in 2011. Recruiters are likely to find average recruiting conditions to be very difficult, scoring a 94. Salem, OR has moderately favorable conditions, scoring a 36. Medford, OR has the second best conditions for recruiting this talent, scoring a 63.

Hiring demand for Computer Programmers reached an all-time high during June 2012, with over 40,500 job ads listed online. As of December 2012, the volume of job ads was 7% higher versus December 2011. On average, Recruiters are likely to experience moderately difficult hiring conditions, scoring a 64. New York has the highest demand and the largest candidate pool for this talent. Despite a large pool of candidates, the recruiting environment in NY is still likely to be moderately difficult. Santa Rosa-Petaluma, CA presents the most favorable hiring environment, scoring a 5 on our Hiring Scale.
