Behind-the-Scenes Sports Hiring Demand

By Ashley Rowe on October 28, 2012 in Hiring Demand Indicators.

With baseball coming to a close, basketball just beginning, football underway, and hockey up in the air we thought it's a good time to look at hiring for the behind-the-scenes professionals at the stadiums and arenas.

Below is a list of the most commonly advertised job titles for the Sports Teams and Clubs and Spectator Sports industries.

  1. Security Officer
  2. Cook
  3. Beverage Server
  4. Steward
  5. Cage Cashier
  6. Bartender
  7. Slot Technician
  8. EVS Attendant
  9. Surveillance Agent
  10. Food Beverage Server

Most of these titles are somewhat expected. Many of the titles are concession related and some others are related to cleaning. The most commonly advertised skills for these positions are oral and written communication and detail oriented. These skills are important for creating a pleasant experience for the fan or spectator in attendance.

There's not a lot of hiring demand in these sports related industries. In September, there were about 125 job ads posted online. Despite the low volume of job ads, this is a 64% year-over-year increase.
