In the spring we wrote about hiring demand for Pinterest skills. At that time, this picture sharing social network was relatively new, but gaining popularity. Since social networks can explode or fizzle in an instant, we wanted to check in and see how hiring demand has changed in the past few months.
Hiring demand grew 265% since we last covered Pinterest skills in March. Ads first started appearing in April 2011. As of August 2012 there were more than 2,100 job ads listed online.

Perhaps employers are turning to students for the latest trends and knowledge in social media.
Along with Pinterest skills, employers are also looking for the following experience:

Pinterest has only been around since March 2010 and it launched into mainstream awareness this year. Since Pinterest is a young social network, it's more likely to be difficult to source candidates experienced with this tool. Below is the Hiring Scale heat map snapshot of one of the cities with the most advantageous recruiting conditions, Detroit, MI.
New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco still have the most demand for professionals with Pinterest skills. These cities have larger talent pools than other areas, but it's not enough to improve the difficulty level they are likely to experience when hiring candidates.
