CNN Money just released their 2012 list of the Best Places to Live in the US. People may begin to look at living in these areas and jobs nearby, so we thought it would be interesting to look at hiring demand in these areas and their relative metro areas.

In the metro areas that are home to the above 10 towns, there were more than 890,000 jobs available online in July, an 18% increase compared to July of 2011. We looked at the metro areas to get a better sense of hiring demand in these areas of the US. Also, many times people work in the metro areas due to job availability, but live in the surrounding areas.
Hiring Demand in the 10 Best Places to Live – 4 Year Hiring Trend
Below is hiring demand by each of the metro areas. All 10 experienced double-digit year-over-year increases in the volume of available job ads. The Los Angeles metro, home to Irvine, CA posted the most job ads of the above locations in July with more than 189,000 postings. However, the highest growth was in Dallas, which is close to McKinney, TX. Seattle (Redmond, WA) and Minneapolis (Eden Prairie, MN) were close behind with more than 20% growth.
Hiring Demand by Metropolitan Area – 10 Best Places to Live
Below are the 10 most commonly advertised occupations in July within the 10 metropolitan areas above. Registered Nurses were most in-demand, like nationwide hiring. In addition, we see several technology occupation – Software Engineers, Web Developers, Computer Systems Analysts, and Network & Computer Systems Administrators all appeared on the list. Also, Software Engineers had the highest growth compared to July of 2011, up 34.7% and just beating Registered Nurses for the fastest growth in the past year.
10 In-Demand Occupations in the 10 Best Places to Live
Most of the above listed occupations are highly demanded across the US. Due to the high volume of job ads for a limited talent pool, it is likely that these jobs will be difficult to fill nationwide. However, conditions will vary by each location. For example, by looking at Indianapolis – home to the #1 location, Carmel – the recruiting conditions will be better than average for Registered Nurses. In comparison, our Hiring Scale shows that Dallas will find RN's a much more challenging position to fill.
