Earlier this year, Fortune released their "Best Companies to Work For" list for 2012. Shortly after it's release in January, we reported on hiring demand. Now that we're half way through the year, we thought it would be interesting to take an updated look at online job ads posted by the top 10 companies.
In May, there were 8,600 job ads shown online by these 10 companies – a 46% year-over-year increase compared to May of 2011. Edward Jones had the most job ads available, with more than 5,200 listings across the US at a 249% increase from last year. Google posted the second highest volume of job ads. However, this is 38% fewer job ads than were seen online in May 2011.
Hiring Demand at 10 Best Companies to Work For – May 2012
Since Edward Jones posted the most job ads in May, it's not too surprising that Personal Financial Advisers were the most commonly advertised occupation, followed by Sales Agents of Financial Services. Other in-demand occupations were Computer Software Engineers (Applications), Sales Agents of Securities and Commodities, and Marketing Managers.
So what skills are these 10 companies looking to hire? Below are the most commonly required tools and technologies that they currently include as requirements in their online job ads. We thought it was interesting that many of these skills are technology and programming related, yet Software Engineers was the third most in-demand occupation.

- Android
- Product development/management
- Mobile development

- Oracle Java
- Python extensible programming language
