We noticed that Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information Clearance (or TS SCI) has appeared as an in-demand certification in many jobs recently. We thought this was interesting, so we wanted to take a closer look at what kinds of jobs require this high security clearance. In May, there were more than 22,000 jobs that included TS SCI clearance in their job listing. This is a 5% increase in hiring for professionals able to obtain and maintain this clearance.

This is usually required for jobs with the government or contractors, so it isn't surprising that many of these openings are for the Washington, DC metro area. More than 10,000 ads were located in and around DC. The area with the second highest volume of job ads was Baltimore with about 1,900 listings.
The most commonly advertised job titles that require this clearance are:

- Senior Systems Engineer
- Network Engineer
- Senior Software Engineer
- Program Manager
- Senior Systems Administrator
- Java Developer
- Intelligence Analyst
Falling just below the top 10 list, were some other titles that we thought we interesting and wanted to share: Test Engineer, Technical Writer, Field Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Administrative Assistant, and Mechanical Engineer.
Since these are mostly tech jobs, it's not too surprising that the most commonly required skills are technology and programming related as well.
