Hiring in Minneapolis Hits A New High

Of the cities with the most job ads during April, we noticed that the Minneapolis metro area saw one of the greatest year-over-year growth. After looking more into the jobs being advertised for this area, we noticed some interesting trends – including the fact that the number of online job ads has reached a new 4-year high! During April, more that 85,000 jobs were seen advertised online, an 18% increase compared to April 2011.

In Minneapolis, there is growing demand across the board. Among the most demanded occupations are technology, sales, office support, management, healthcare, and financial fields. The most commonly advertised job titles in the Minneapolis metro area are:

  2. Customer Service Representative
  3. Administrative Assistant
  4. Project Manager
  5. Sales Representative (or Sales Associate)

In comparison, job ads for Business Analysts stay online the longest of the above 10 jobs. In Minneapolis, these jobs average a 46 day posting period – or 6.5 weeks. That's 3 weeks longer than job ads for Teller openings. Despite being among the hard-to-fill jobs in Minneapolis, our Hiring Scale shows us that there are some nearby locations that currently find Business Analyst positions easier than average to recruit.
