It's been a while since we looked at hiring demand in the engineering services industry and the last time we reviewed online job ads, we saw declining demand. Since the beginning of 2012, the number of online job ads in this industry has steadily increased. During April 2012, more than 38,000 jobs were seen advertised online in the engineering services sector – up 17% compared to April 2011 and more than 57% compared to April 2010.
Hiring Demand by Engineering Services Companies – 4 Year Hiring Trend
Below are the 10 occupations within engineering services that had the most online job ads during April 2012. Not too surprisingly, 6 of the below occupations are engineering related. Civil Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Industrial Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Engineering Managers, and Environmental Engineers. Civil Engineers were not only the most commonly advertised occupation in April, but also saw the greatest year-over-year increase up 41% when compared to April 2011. The other in-demand occupations were technology related.
