Hiring Demand for Truck Drivers Continues, Reaching New 4-Year High

One of the occupations that saw the highest year-over-year growth in hiring demand during October was Truck Drivers. More than 35,000 new job ads were posted online during October, representing a 60% increase versus October 2010. This volume of job ads also marks a new 4-year high for this occupation, breaking the previous record by just 66 job ads.

Below we list the 10 companies that placed the most job ads for Truck Drivers during October. Of these 10 employers, 8 experienced significant year-over-year increases during October. (N/A indicates WANTED Analytics™ did not find any online job ads during October 2010 for that company.) UPS placed the most new job  ads during October, with just under 3,000 unique listings.

These occupations continue to be a challenge for many employers to fill. Many potential candidates are often discouraged to apply for these jobs due to long periods of time away from home. With the increase in hiring demand, Recruiters will need to compete more heavily to source from the existing talent pool and openings for Truck Drivers are likely to get more difficult to fill.
