Social media continues to be a hot topic in marketing.  However, based on new online job ads, Human Resources professionals are often required to have knowledge, skills and experience in social media, also.  In July, 438 job ads for Human Resource jobs included social media skills in their job requirements - up 140% from July 2010.

Most commonly, Recruiters and Training functions need to have social media skills. More than 380 were for Recruiters, accounting for 7% of all the Recruiter job ads during July - up from just 3% in July 2010.

Many of these jobs are located on the East Coast, with New York, Boston, Washington, DC and Philadelphia appearing in the top 5 metro areas with the highest hiring demand.  Chicago was the metropolitan area with the 4th highest hiring demand.  Philadelphia experienced the highest year-over-year growth and more than 460%.
